Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has worked as a chef, TV presenter in the US and a teacher at Institute of Culinary Education. Anne W. Burrell is host on Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network, as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, reveals an easy and straightforward cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell worked in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary traditions and environment. She also competed as Iron Chef America on Food Network. When she was a kid in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was attracted by the food. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for restaurant management after she earned the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a fantastic experience. I didn't have enough knowledge, couldn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. After graduating, Burrell spent one year studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. The time she spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and has made an impression on her perception of food. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten the lives of kids facing challenges. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador who promotes education about children with diabetes. She is a frequent guest presenter at conferences, and she travels the country as part of her mentorship role. Anne often has mentioned throughout her culinary career she's grateful to be able share with others what is truly important to her.
